£750k-a-day drug baron gets 22 years’ jail
A DRUG baron whose operation raked in £750,000 a day has been jailed for 22 years.
Matthew Harrod, 47, imported cocaine, heroin, and cannabis to the UK and detectives likened his operation to TV’s The Sopranos.
He was soon back running his network after his release from a 10-year jail sentence in 2017 for drug dealing and other offences.
Undercover officers kept watch on Harrod’s home in Hove, East Sussex, photographing the registration plates of his fleet of luxury cars , during a two-year Met Police investigation codenamed Operation Edge. Harrod was jailed along with 20 other members of his syndicate at Woolwich crown court, South East London. Their terms were eight months to 15 years. Detective Sergeant Rob Wiggins, said: “It was clear Mr Harrod thought he was untouchable.”
