Both these sides have been on abysmal runs, so this match was either an opportunity to turn the corner or an embarrassing extension of a terrible season.

Forest, who had lost six and drawn one of their last seven games, could not have asked for a more positive start.

But new Owls boss Tony Pulis continues the hunt for his first victory after eight attempts.

There were chances for Wednesday, including a Kadeem Harris run which ended with him shooting straight at Brice Samba.

On the other hand, Forest should have doubled their lead when Cafu picked out Lyle Taylor, but Chey Dunkley spotted the danger.

The win saw Forest move three points clear of the drop zone, while Wednesday are stuck at the bottom with nine points from 19 games.
