Winks to stay put for now

- BY JOHN CROSS

HARRY WINKS has been told he will not be allowed to leave Tottenham in January.

Jose Mourinho admitted Winks has been in to see him to discuss his future at the club after being frozen out of the Spurs first team.

The England midfielder, 24, did not make the bench at Crystal Palace on Sunday and is concerned about his place at next summer’s Euros. There is strong interest from Spain while Everton have also been linked with a loan move to help get him game-time should Winks become available.

But Tottenham boss Mourinho said: “In relation to Winks on loan in January, no way.”

Winks has been left deeply frustrated by his lack of chances under Mourinho even though he played regularly when the Portuguese first took charge.
