FORGET the black and white cat – this postie’s sidekick is a drone, which has made its first ever Royal Mail delivery.
An unmanned aircraft took a package on the final leg of its journey to a lighthouse on the Isle of Mull.
Tom Nunn, who does his postal rounds on the island, said being able to pilot a drone instead of making long walks out to remote homes “will be a huge help”.
A fleet of Royal Mail drones will be trialled next year in a scheme with software firm DronePrep, and could deliver Covid-19 test kits.
