- BY CHRIS GOULDING

GRAND Lucinda in the The Welsh Scottish National Russell version handler is winning targeting with captured Big trainer glory River. the One 2017 For Arthur Aintree and spectacular has her eyes with set on Chepstow on Saturday.

She said: “I would like to think over three miles, six furlongs and on heavy ground it will suit him.

“As long as the ground is not too tacky, I think he will run a big race.

“He ran a very good race in the 2019 Scottish National when the ground didn’t really suit him – and he still finished fourth.

“At the start of the season we decided to aim him for this race.” Russell (below) admits she would be happy to see some rain, but that might jeopardise this rescheduled contest taking place. It is the fourth time in 11 years that Chepstow TUESDAY has 05.01.2021 rearranged its flagship race due to the weather. “He’s a real stayer and has a bit of class,” added Russell. “We finished second in the race with Silver By Nature when Dream eam Alliance won it in 2009. “It would just be so good to actually go and win it this time.” Derek Fox, in the saddle when One For Arthur became only the second Scottish-trained horse to win the Grand National, will take the reins, sporting the distinguished Two Black Labs silks.

The colours, which have a Labrador on the front and back of the silks and paw marks on the slee sleeves, are named after a p pair of Labradors, Dom and Louis.

They are owned by Deborah Thomson, one member of the Two Golf W Widows ownership who are invo involved with One For Arthur. Big River is currently 20-1 behind the 7-2 ante-post favourite Secret Reprieve.

Paul Nicholls, who won the race with Silver Birch (2004) and L’Aventure (2005), is represented by Yala Enki and Truckers Lodge.
