Joyce, 104, ‘delighted’

-

A WOMAN aged 104 has become one of the oldest Brits to receive the Pfizer vaccine. Joyce Birrell was in good spirits when she rolled up her sleeve for the injection yesterday morning.

She was vaccinated alongside Usha Gandecha, manager of Foxholes Care Home in Hitchin, Herts.

Usha said: “We’re delighted... It feels like we finally have light at the end of the tunnel and can start being optimistic about the future again.

“I put myself forward to be vaccinated first as a show of solidarity and unity with staff and residents alike.

“Alongside me was Joyce, who recently celebrated her 104th birthday with us.

“She too, was thrilled to receive the jab and was in great spirits throughout the process.”
