Road rage horror
Teen mows down ex and new girl
A FURIOUS teenager took her mum’s car and mowed down her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend.
Shocking CCTV footage shows Lydia Baya, 18, driving into the 19-year-old and his companion before crashing into two people waiting for a bus.
Baya then climbed from the wrecked Renault Captur and walked calmly away as her victims screamed for help. Bus passengers and other members of the public rushed to their aid.
On Wednesday Baya was jailed for three-and-a-half years for her jealous, “catastrophic” rage. She will be banned from the road for a year after release.
One victim, a woman of 58, was left with a shattered pelvis and is now too scared to leave home. The other three all needed hospital treatment after the August attack in Selly Park, Birmingham.
Baya, of Dudley, West Mids, was first held on suspicion of attempted murder.
She later admitted attempted GBH and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. After she was sentenced at
Wolverhampton crown court, Det Con Andy Jones said: “The consequences of her uncontrollable rage that day were catastrophic. It is by pure chance that the victims’ injuries were not more serious or even fatal.”
After Baya serves her driving ban for a year when she leaves prison she must then pass an extended test before she is allowed back behind the wheel.
