Musk is now richest man with £139bn
ELON Musk has reportedly overtaken Amazon tycoon Jef f Bezos to become the richest person on the planet.
Mr Musk’s wealth has risen to £139billion after an increase in the value of Tesla, the electric car firm he runs and owns 20% of.
That tops Mr Bezos’ fortune by £1.1billion, even though Amazon’s share price has soared during the shutdown of shops.
Mr Musk, 49, co-founder of online payments firm PayPal, also heads up rocket company SpaceX.
Responding to the news on Twitter, Mr Musk wrote “Well, back to work”.
He added: “Half my money is intended to help problems on Earth and half to help establish a selfsustaining city on Mars.”
