NOT GOING OUT
BBC1, 9.30pm
After the New Year’s Eve special, which resulted in a bit of group therapy and some trifle-throwing, we’re back with Lee and Lucy (Lee Mack and Sally Bretton) for an incredible eleventh season.
A pretty remarkable achievement, especially as the laughs are still regular and reliable enough.
This series will see Lee’s disasterprone and gently debauched dad Frank (the much-missed Bobby Ball) introducing the family to his new girlfriend. Meanwhile an old flame of Lee’s gets back in touch via social media, Toby (Hugh Dennis) tries to turn himself into a Cockney delivery driver, and a pub quiz causes chaos and competition with Toby’s alwaysright wife Anna (Abigail Cruttenden).
In this first episode, Lee has a seriously awkward encounter with his new neighbour after Lucy takes in a package which Lee then accidentally rips open.
Obviously it contains something you really wouldn’t want to talk about over the garden fence.
