POG: TIME TO LEARN LESSONS

- BY DAVID McDONNELL

PAUL POGBA fears Manchester United are not learning from their mistakes.

United missed out on the chance to face Tottenham in the Carabao Cup final after losing 2-0 to Manchester City.

It was the fourth time in a row Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have fallen at the semi-final stage, with Pogba (above) admitting they must discover how to take the next step if they want to win trophies.

“It’s very annoying to lose, because there’s a trophy behind all of this,” said the France star.

“We have to do better. We have to learn, because it’s not the first time. Details make the difference all of the time and now when it’s big games like this, it’s details and at set-pieces we lost.

“We have to get through this because there are big games coming up. Next time, we will do better.” United host Watford in the FA Cup tomorrow and then travel to Burnley in the Premier League on Tuesday. A win or draw at Turf Moor will see United go above arch-rivals Liverpool at the top of the table, before their trip to Anfield a week on Sunday.

Pogba added: “We’re in a good position now. We will get through this and we will go again.”

Meanwhile, the commission which imposed a three-match ban on Edinson Cavani for the use of racial term ‘negrito’ on social media expressed “surprise” he’s received no media training from United.

In its written reasons for issuing the ban, the three-man independent regulatory commission said: “In light of the player’s high profile in the game, his inability to speak English and the fact that he had approaching eight million Instagram followers, the commission were surprised that no such ‘training’ had been specifically put in place for the player by his club.”

And United have finalised the £19m signing of Ivory Coast winger Amad Diallo, 18, from Italy’s Atalanta.
