Ozil future decided in ‘few days’

- BY JOHN CROSS

MESUT OZIL could resolve his future in the “next few days” as Arsenal look to offload him this month.

Gunners outcast Ozil, 32, (above) is not expected to be put back in the first team squad.

Turkish club Fenerbahce and DC United have both been heavily linked as he is now able to talk to foreign clubs, ahead of being made a free agent in the summer.

His £350,000-a-week contract is laden with loyalty bonuses, which means he is likely to stay at the club until the summer.

But boss Mikel Arteta said: “Obviously, now he’s free to negotiate with other clubs. We will discuss what is the best situation for him and try to find the best solution for everyone.

“Every player wants to play. For every player not playing, it’s always hard. I’m saying we will decide in the next few days.”

Teenage defender Omar Rekik has joined Arsenal in a £900,000 deal from Hertha Berlin – it is his sixth club after also being at Feyenoord, Manchester City, PSV and Marseille.

Rekik, 19, said: “A lot of youth players have broken through here – and I want to be the next one.”
