Becks bid to Phil job

PHIL NEVILLE is edging closer to a reunion with his former Manchester United team-mate David Beckham after Inter Miami yesterday sacked boss Diego Alonso.

The England Women’s manager is being lined up as a replacement by club owner Beckham, although FA director of women’s football Sue Campbell said Neville would lead Team GB at the Tokyo Olympics unless he made the switch to the MLS.

She said: “We were moving towards an announcement when he started to have these discussions. If Phil remains, he’ll be Team GB coach. I’m not privy to any detailed conversations he’s having with Inter Miami but I know he’s having conversations.”
