BEES BOSS FRANK’S COVID KO

- BY SIMON BIRD

BRENTFORD boss Thomas Frank will be missing from the dugout today after testing positive for coronavirus.

Frank (right) was one of two positive results returned after screening at the club’s training ground on Thursday.

The 47-year-old, who on Tuesday saw his team beaten 2-0 by Tottenham in a Carabao Cup semi-final clash, will now isolate at home for 10 days.

Brentford B-team head coach Neil MacFarlane led training yesterday and will be in charge for the third round tie against a Middlesbrough sbrough side who have been hampered by Covid problems of their own.

That has forced manager Neil Warnock to pick youngsters to fill half f of the places in his team – giving them a chance he hopes they will seize.

Boro closed their training ground on Monday and only five first-team players will start against the Bees. But Wa Warnock (right), who had the option of s sitting out the game himself, said: “I want to play as many first-team l lads as I can but I th think 50 per cent of the s squad will be Under-23s, supplemented with first-team lads. “The lads coming in, they need me to be there to show me what they can do. I want a performance.

“If we get beat we get beat, but I want the lads who are playing to show me what they can do.

“Their agents have been telling me for months how good they are, so let’s see.

“Why should we forfeit it? It’s the greatest cup in the world. If it gives other people a chance to play they can always say they played in the greatest competition in the world.”
