YOUR SHOUT

»Fiona, I am so depressed and can’t see a way forward at all. Each day’s news is so grim and it feels like we have nothing to look forward to any more. Margaret, via e-mail

FP: You are certainly not alone in that respect, Margaret.

This horrible virus has infected all of us in some way, whether physically, mentally or both. Stay with it. We WILL beat it in the end.

»Fiona, thank goodness for our brilliant British soaps. What would we do without having them to look forward to during this most depressing of times?

The characters are like old friends and as their lives are more complicated – and often more violent than your average family’s – it sort of makes you realise how lucky we are!

Jackie, Nottingham

FP: Well, that’s a slightly weird, but true, take on things, Jackie. Stay safe – stay in and watch the soaps!

But yes, we all need something to look forward to of an evening during these dark times and you can’t beat a large dose of Emmerdale, Coronation Street or EastEnders to make you realise how lucky you are to have a relatively normal life!

»Fiona, when will this horrible period end? It’s just misery everywhere you turn right now. You can’t even see a doctor face-toface, let alone your friends. Human beings are sociable animals and not being able to be who we instinctively are is crucifying us.

Jeff, Manchester

FP: If only we knew the answer to that, Jeff, we’d all be free again!

»Fiona, so glad the virus hasn’t interfered with your weekly thoughts.

I don’t know what I’d do without my Saturday Daily Mirror!

Gillian, via e-mail

FP: Aw, thank you, that means a lot. Maybe you should also try it from Monday to Friday then, Gillian!
