Stay local ..but I’m in tropics

A COUNCIL leader issued a “stay local” Covid warning... from the Maldives.

Angie Dale, of Richmondshire District Council in Rishi Sunak’s constituency, said in a press release: “It is vitally important that people heed the stay local message.”

The notice was released jointly with Craven District Council and North

Yorkshire Police last week while she was on the Maldivian island of Kudahuvadhoo.

Yvonne Peacock, leader of the Conservative opposition to the council’s ruling independent group, said: “I think it is disappointing when we are in lockdown and people are suffering that the leader of the council is not in the country.”
