Detectives hoping for fresh links to key suspect

THE latest development is significant – officers from New Scotland Yard and in Germany have been developing leads relating to the known paedophile, and principal suspect, Christian Brueckner.

These have taken some time but the results have allowed the officers to go back to Portugal and convince Portuguese detectives to revisit some of the key witnesses. This is often necessary when a good suspect is identified, as additional points relating to the suspect may not have been covered originally, when the suspect was not so clearly known.

It appears that there is insufficient evidence against Brueckner to justify interviewing him at this stage.

But it is hoped that the renewed interviews with the witnesses will throw up some new information which, hopefully, will contain the crucial information needed to justify inquiries focused on Brueckner being pursued.

The detectives are still a very long way from solving this incredibly difficult inquiry but this could well turn out to be a very important step forward.
