Napoleon’s jail key up for £5k
THE key to Napoleon’s prison bedroom is tipped to fetch £5,000 at auction after it was found in a trunk in Scotland.
The French Emperor died in 1821 in a British prison on St Helena off the coast of
Africa after his defeat at Waterloo. The 13cm key was brought back and given to Baroness Holland by her son.
Found by descendants, Sotheby’s in London say it’s “something otherworldly”.
