SCARLETT Moffat says her mum’s gambling added to the Covid misery of 2020 and turned it into “the worst year”.

Betty Moffat is thought to have taken thousands from the Gogglebox star’s TV earnings to fund her addiction. Yesterday it was reported Betty, 50, who worked as Scarlett’s PA, was getting treatment for her habit.

Scarlett, 30, who won I’m a Celebrity in 2016, is said to have been left “betrayed and confused” but is supporting her mum’s recovery. They both declined to comment on the reports and money involved. But Scarlett wrote on social media on New Year’s Eve: “2020 can’t wait to tell you to...well in a nutshell eff off !

“This has been the worst year for so many reasons, but 2021 gives us the opportunity to start a new chapter.” Sources close to the family say Betty had the odd online bet last year but her gambling spiralled.

An insider said: “In desperation, she took from Scarlett’s account. She obviously thought she’d win it back.” But Betty lost more and finally confessed.

Scarlett become a millionaire through podcast and fashion deals and TV appearances.
