Macca: Don’t chuck it out, just Let It Be

- BY MARK JEFFERIES

SIR Paul McCartney has admitted that he doesn’t like to throw things away – in case he’s scribbled his lyrics on them.

The former Beatle, 78, says wife Nancy Shevell, 61, has tried to change his “not throw away” mindset.

But he says paper and books tucked away around his home are often filled with “scraps of songs”.

He told US Radio: “I am just short of a hoarder.

“We will be going to throw an old book away and I’ll say, ‘ Just let me check through it.’ And on the third page, will be the original lyrics I scribbled down to one of my songs.

“So I say, ‘ This is why I don’t throw things away!’ That’s my excuse. My wife would like if I would clean out the closets. She is good at that and I am not.”
