BILIARY INTERVENTIONS...
WHAT’S THIS PROCEDURE?
Bile is produced in the liver and stored in the gall bladder where it’s released into the small intestine to aid the digestion of fat via tubes called bile ducts. They occasionally become blocked leading to inflammation or infection. Biliary interventions treat blockages and narrowing of the ducts and may remove gallstones, drain excess bile or place a stent within a bile duct to restore the flow of bile.
