TRUMP TRIP ‘LEFT HIM A HOL LOT OF HEARTACHE’
KYREN WILSON say Judd Trump may be regretting a break to Dubai after missing the Masters with coronavirus.
World No.1 Trump, a former winner of the tournament, and Jack Lisowski, were forced to withdraw after testing positive for Covid-19.
But Trump (below) had recently returned from a nine-day holiday to UAE where he could have caught it.
Asked if Trump, 31, had been naive to travel against advice over the festive period, Wilson (above) said: “There are different lives and with hindsight he may regret it, but we all make mistakes.
“But it doesn’t matter that Judd as world No.1 i isn’t here – if I win this title, the then in 20 years’ time it won’t matter that he wasn’t in the line-up.
“Everyone likes to do different things. He’s a young lad without a family and without kids.
“I can understand the frustrations… for me I was happily grounded at home with my family, my mum and dad and my brother.”
Kettering’s Wilson beat namesake and second reserve Gary Wilson from Tyneside 6-2 to reach a seventh quarter-final of the season – with the highlight a superb clearance of 136.
The world No.5 added: “I only found out that I would be playing Gary and not Jack Lisowski on Saturday.”
