THOMAS FACING FINE FOR R HOMOPHOBIC SLUR

WORLD No. 3 Justin Thomas is facing a fine after he was picked up using a homophobic slur during Saturday’s third round of the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii.

Viewers could clearly hear Thomas (above) call out “faggot” after missing a seven-foot par putt on the fourth hole.

He apologised for his homophobic language following his five-under-par round of 68.

“There’s just no excuse,” said Thomas. “There’s absolutely no reason for me to say anything like that.

“I’m extremely embarrassed. It’s not the kind of person I am. But unfortunately I did it and I have to own up to it.

“I deeply apologise to anyone and everybody who I offended.”
