SEAMUS: DON’T SHUT US DOWN

- BY CHRIS McKENNA

SEAMUS COLEMAN believes football should continue through the pandemic to help supporters’ mental health.

There have been calls to shut down the sport as Covid-19 numbers rocket, but the Premier League plans to continue.

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce questioned if it was morally right, but Everton defender and captain Coleman said: “I do know that so many people need it.

“I’m sure the numbers on mental health have gone through the roof. Football has to go on, to give people and supporters something to do and look forward to.

“If you’re about the house all day, with nothing to look forward to in the evening, it can be a long day. It has to go on to give people something to look forward to.”
