EDWARDS IS HOPING HE WILL KOP IT

- BY ROSS HEPPENSTALL

MANCHESTER UNITED fan Joe Edwards is dreaming of being drawn against Liverpool tonight after his goal sent Plymouth into the fourth round for the first time since 2008.

The Argyle skipper struck in the 70th minute (above) to kill off a youthful Huddersfield side with 11 changes from their previous match.

Six years ago, Edwards was at Yeovil when they lost 2-0 to United in the third round. “They fielded a strong side and, as a United fan, it was a great occasion playing against the likes of Wayne Rooney and Radamel Falcao, “he said.

“I swapped shirts with Rooney, we were both captains on the day, and it has pride of place on my wall. That’s what the FA Cup is about so hopefully we get another tie like that.”

Plymouth boss Ryan Lowe, a Liverpool fan, hailed the FA Cup as “the best competition in the world”. And Edwards added: “Obviously a trip to Old Trafford would be fantastic but with the gaffer being here, I think Liverpool would be the one we want in the next round.

“I’d want Jordan Henderson’s shirt this time. He’s brilliant.”

Town twice led in the first half through Romoney Crichlow and Aaron Rowe – both with their first goals for the club.

But Ryan Hardie and Panutche Camara came up with equalisers before Edwards’ tap-in proved decisive.

Huddersfield defender Crichlow said: “I told the young lads to relax and enjoy the experience. It was disappointing to lose but they showed they’re great players.”
