Super Monday

The planet is on its knees, global warming is a crisis at boiling point, and everyone is under attack from the pandemic. But don’t fear. Because there’s a new hero out to save the world.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No... Super, er, Girl, Woman Diva.

For The GC, aka Gemma Collins, has taken on a new mission: to be a humanitarian, like Sir David Attenborough.

(So I guess it is actually “bird”, but just an Essex bird, as Danny Dyer might say.)

The former TOWIE star turned the big 4-0 this week and on Monday she vowed it’s time to lock up her (not-so)inner diva and, once allowed, spread her good deeds to India and Africa.

I’m not quite convinced a visit from The GC will be at the very top of their wish lists.

But how refreshing to see a reality star whose definition of “essential work” is not topping up their tan lines in Dubai.

The GC Turnaround Tuesday

Dominic ‘Wild’ West has jetted off again. But this time – hold the front page! – he’s remembered his wife.

The star of The Affair, 51, hit headlines after his Roman holiday with Lily James, 31, last October.

Yet now he’s in Kenya for five weeks of charity work, and it’s been revealed his wife Catherine, 49, and their children are with him.

Their reported five-star resort on the isle of Lamu sounds gorgeous enough to make even the

Love Islanders in UAE green-eyed.

However it’s also a sign the pair are putting Wild West’s beastly behaviour behind them.

Of course, Dom’s head will no doubt be turned by a beautiful creature again.

But hopefully

African safari. just on it’s their

can get between an actor and a gong. The Golden Globes announced its nominations with The Crown reigning supreme with the most TV nods.

And while many of its stars got noms, Olivia ‘The Queen’ Colman and newcomer Emma ‘Diana’ Corrin, will be the real showdown – as they’ve been pitted against each other for Best TV Actress.

If that seems awkward, it’s even worse Normal People.

Yep, Daisy Edgar-Jones has been nominated for Best Actress in a Limited Series, for her very raunchy role in BBC’s lockdown hit.

But Paul Mescal, her partner-in-crime and the face that sold a thousand bargain-basement chains, was – rather rudely – snubbed.

Were judges too red-faced over his full-frontal scenes? Was it a case of “schlong’s out... gong’s out” with the jury? Who knows.

At least, all’s not lost. Paul has a couple of globes and rather large, don...no...gong of his royally for the

own already. I mean his home decor and GQ award, of course.

That’s ruff Thursday

It’s always good to know where you stand.

As Ant and should know.

(For three decades, it’s been left to right, like their names).

However at Ant’s upcoming nuptials, Dec might find himself ousted from the post of McPartlin’s right-hand man.

For when asked about the wedding to former PA AnneMarie Corbett, it was clear best man may end up being man’s best friend.

Asked about popping the (best man) question, Ant said of Dec:

“He was very good last time... I suppose it depends on what type of wedding we have. There’s been no plans.”

Dec translated: “It’s either me or the dog”.

Brown Lab Hurley splits his time (and loyalties) between Ant’s ex-wife Lisa Armstrong and Ant and Annelittle

Dec

Marie. Ant will be relying on his potential best man to be a Very Good Boy during the service.

And he’ll be expecting Hurley to be on his best behaviour too.

Cowell’s back Friday

It’s a phrase that would have been unthinkable a few years ago. But I’ve really missed seeing Simon Cowell. It’s not unthinkable because of his Mr Nasty persona. Or his endless attempts to resuscitate The X Factor. But because there was a barely a chance to miss him as he was barely off our TVs.

Yet after the horror bike crash in Malibu last summer, his broken back has kept him away from our screens and shores. So how good was it that he was spotted for the first time in the UK this week?

The current trend for “nicey nice” talent judges is all very well. But don’t we need someone with a bit of bite?

Apparently Simon’s had to ditch veganism while he beefs himself back up.

So hopefully it won’t be too long before he can get his teeth stuck back in and serve up something juicy.
