TO RUSH TO VICTORY IN CLEEVE

VALUE SCOPE

Musselburgh with some decent betting opportunities.

DUBAI ANGEL (1.29) has had trouble with his breathing but he showed promise under a big weight on his debut for Richard Newland (right) at Bangor just before Christmas.

He’s not had many chances over fences but there’s nothing wrong with his jumping and he is nicely treated on the pick of his hurdles form. So have 1pt to win at 7-1.

TRESHNISH (3.10) is a bit risky but you can afford to take chances with 18-1 shots.

He hasn’t been enjoying chasing as his form figures prove.

You have to go back three years to find his last hurdles efforts but his victory over today’s course and distance make him very interesting. The handicapper has cut him plenty of slack for his disappointing chase efforts and it makes him look very well treated.

There’s a chance his experiences over fences could have turned him sour but, if the fires still burn, he should be competitive at a track he likes. Have 1pt each-way.

It’s usually an advantage to race up with the pace at Musselburgh and that should help SAINT XAVIER (3.45).

He came over from France with a big reputation a few years ago and ,while he hasn’t lived up to those lofty expectations, he ran a hell of a lot better than he has recently when fourth behind Double Shuffle at Kempton last month.

That 3m trip looked on the sharp side so there’s reasons to hope he will stay today’s extra mile with blinkers replacing the visor he wore last time out. With trainer Richard Hobson in decent form, it is worth having 1pt to win at 8-1.
