Maxwell ‘I’ll quit as Brit’ offer for bail
PRINCE Andrew’s pal Ghislaine Maxwell has offered to give up her British citizenship if US judges grant her bail.
Maxwell, 59, is being held in a New York jail on suspicion of child grooming charges.
She is accused of helping recruit girls for the paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who died in jail in 2019.
The socialite, who was born in France but grew up in the UK, offered to renounce both citizenships to “eliminate any opportunity for her to seek refuge in those countries” her lawyer said in a court filing. It is her third attempt to be granted bail.
She is awaiting trial on charges of child sex abuse, grooming and perjury. She denies all the allegations.
A BRITISH woman has been beaten to death with a shovel at the Bulgarian farm she retired to.
Detectives are quizzing Tina Eyre’s boyfriend over her brutal killing in the village of Veliko Tarnovo.
He confessed to murder and acted “out of jealousy”, local media claim.
Ms Eyre’s bloodied body was found in a barn on her property.
The former legal secretary, 62, from Gloucester, had not been seen for days.
Two pals went to see her and found her boyfriend, 26, digging a hole outside, police reports say.
Ms Eyre had lived there for four years and looked after dogs and piglets.
The Foreign Office said it was “supporting the family of a woman following her death”.
