Labour push for post vote
LABOUR is launching a push on postal votes ahead of “Super Thursday” elections on May 6.
Some £31million is being spent to make polling stations Covid-secure.
But Labour says the Government should encourage postal votes.
Deputy leader Angela Rayner said the failure to do so risks a “perfect storm” of disenfranchisement and potentially dangerous crowds.
The Electoral Commission said: “Voters have a range of options.”
The Cabinet Office said it had set up “a strong set of measures to give voters confidence to have their say”.
Doorstep campaigning can restart from March 8 if coronavirus rules are obeyed, the Government said.

Greater Manchester Police said yesterday that Giggs, 47, has had his bail extended until May 1.
A statement added: “This relates to an incident reported at 10.05pm on Sunday 1 November 2020.
