Britney ‘must speak out to free herself’

Of the week

- BY JAMES DESBOROUGH and MARK JEFFERIES

SHARON Osbourne has urged Britney Spears to speak publicly if she wants to free herself from the control of her father Jamie.

Singer Britney, 39, is in a legal battle for greater control of her finances and career, under conservatorship of her dad since 2008.

Former rock manager Sharon, who helped husband Ozzy turn his finances around, said on US TV: “I’d like to hear it from Britney herself saying, ‘I don’t want my father in my life. I’m old enough’.

“Why is he still there? What is it that you feel as a father that she cannot take care of her life?”

It came after Jamie’s lawyer said “people have it so wrong” about the conservatorship, insisting: “Jamie saved Britney’s life.”
