SCUMBAG HUNT
Search for the fly-tip menace ditching waste on the streets
ONE of Britain’s worst fly tippers, who uses a truck to dump waste, is being hunted by the authorities.
The man dumped mounds of rubbish on deserted roads at least five times during a three-month period.
He uses fake number plates on his Ford Transit tipper to escape detection.
Pamela Jordan, senior officer from FlyTipping Action Wales, said: “The person who repeatedly fly-tipped this waste clearly has little regard for the environment or the local communities and businesses left to face the problem.
“From the behaviour we’ve seen, we strongly believe they are likely to do this again, if they haven’t already – which is why we’re so keen to track down the individual for questioning.
“Remember that as a householder, if you are paying someone to take away your waste you need to check that they are a registered waste carrier.
“If your waste is fly-tipped, and can be traced back to you, you could face an unlimited fine and prosecution.”
The suspect, who is white and slim with dark hair, was spotted five times between September and November.
He has dumped at sites across Cardiff and Newport but is feared to have targeted other locations in South Wales.
The Environment Agency say the truck was fitted with the number plate ND06 LWZ during the autumn.
Earlier this week, the Mirror told how waste disposal firms with government licences – easily obtained online – have been fly-tipping in country lanes.
