GUARDIOLA IS IN WITH A TOP SHOUT

- BY JEREMY CROSS

PEP GUARDIOLA admits he has become Manchester United’s ultimate noisy neighbour. Guardiola (above), who is a furious ball of energy on the sidelines, always on the move and yelling at his team, is making all the noise in English football after leading Manchester City on a staggering 19-game winning streak in all competitions.

It has helped City charge into a 10-point lead over secondplaced United at the top of the Premier League and made them favourites to win back the title from Liverpool.

Former United boss

Sir Alex Ferguson (right) once branded City his “noisy neighbours” as his rivals began to emerge as a genuine force in the domestic game.

They have gone on to win countless trophies in recent seasons to leave United lagging behind and Guardiola admits he can’t stop shouting about all his success because he doesn’t know how to relax.

The Spaniard, whose side host West Ham today, said: “I would love to, but I don’t know. “Sometimes I shout and shouldn’t, but I cannot control it. “When I was a player it was the same, it’s the way I am. Sometimes I’m more calm, it depends. I do it because I love my job, I enjoy being a manager and I want to be better.

“I want to try to reach the team every day to do it better. I demand a lot, I don’t want to feel weak, I have to be there and show I am not resting.”

City have bounced back from seeing Liverpool crowned champions to blow all their rivals out of the water and remain on course for a historic quadruple haul of trophies.

Guardiola signed a contract extension in November that will keep him at the Etihad until 2023, but would have quit had he not thought he could make his team even better.

He added: “When players arrive they have to know we play to win the games.

“If you do not accept it you cannot be here. When we win be extremely happy and when we lose be extremely sad.

“That’s the only way at the big clubs and this is the club we want to be.

“The big clubs have incredible success and it’s due to the mentality. The manager can help them to have it, but our chairman does not want to rest, he pushes me, the CEO, we push each other. It’s the only way of getting better.

“If we did not feel we could get better here I would not have extended my contract. I came to play in England and I did it – the job is done. But still I feel we can win more and make our fans proud. We can do it.”
