REASONS TO BE CHAIR-FUL SAYS ILIAS

- BY IAN BAKER

ILIAS CHAIR is desperate to give QPR fans something to sing about at last.

The Hoops will finish a sixth straight season mid-table in the Championship despite a terrific second half to the campaign.

They have collected 35 points in their 18 matches in 2021, and have climbed to 11th place.

Playmaker Chair (above) said: “Are we looking at going for the Premier League in 12 months? 100 per cent. The squad is very strong and hopefully we can do a good job next season.

“For now, people say there is nothing to play for but we still think we can get in the top 10.”

Lyndon Dykes’ classy header gave QPR a 27th-minute lead before Josh Windass levelled for Wednesday three minutes later.

Stefan Johansen’s freak goal five minutes after the break put QPR ahead before Dykes’ 60th-minute header and a lastminute Chris Willock strike sealed things. It was another miserable result for Wednesday, who are seven points from safety.

They at least have boss Darren Moore back to lead from the front in training today after three games away because of a positive Covid test.

The Owls now have three straight home games in a week, starting with Swansea tomorrow night. And assistant Jamie Smith said: “We probably need to win our next three games at Hillsborough.

“But we will keep fighting. Swansea is a massive game for us and we will keep striving to get the results.”
