Queen: Use Duke’s funeral to reunite family Wills & Harry to talk of future ‘another time’

THE Queen has appealed for her family to use the “period of unity” from Prince Philip’s passing as a catalyst to come together.

The monarch had been comforted in her darkest hour by seeing her family rallying round one another and putting their differences aside, royal sources have revealed.

Prince Harry will today see his family for the first time since quitting royal life with wife Meghan last year.

He will be given an opportunity to seek a resolution with the family after his bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey last month.

Prince William this week spoke to his brother on the phone ahead of their grandfather’s funeral today, but the brothers are understood to have agreed “to leave conversations about their future relationship for another time”.

The Prince of Wales also spoke to his son on the phone before the gathering to commemorate the Duke of Edinburgh and was “looking forward” to seeing him, one insider said. A royal source said: “Tensions are still obviously running high, a lot has been said and wounds are still very raw. But there is a realisation that everyone does need to reach some form of resolution, if only for the Queen, who has said it is her wish that the family comes together. “The family has been united in grief this week and it has given a lot of people pause for thought. “It is certainly hoped that the period of unity from the darkness of the Duke’s passing can be used as a catalyst to come together instead of letting the passage of time deepen divisions.”

Harry has been staying at his Frogmore Cottage home in Windsor that he shared with Meghan last year since flying in from the US on Sunday.

He was required to take two Covid tests this week during an isolation period that will last 10 days, but is permitted to leave on compassionate grounds to attend his grandfather’s funeral today.

He is expected to return home as soon as next Wednesday to his wife Meghan, 39, who did not travel with him as she is heavily pregnant.

The family is reeling after the couple took part in a tell-all interview with

US chat show queen Winfrey, where they accused “a royal” of racism, peddling lies and ignoring Meghan’s desperate cries for help as she contemplated suicide while pregnant.

Harry, 36, also accused his father Charles and brother of being “trapped” in the monarchy.
