Ticking off for ‘sloppy’ top brass
PRINCE Philip regularly upbraided military commanders who were not dressed properly, the head of Britain’s armed forces revealed yesterday.
The Duke of Edinburgh believed “standards” for top brass at ceremonial events were essential, says Chief of the Defence Staff General Sir Nick Carter.
“One of the things we will always remember him for was the example that he set us,” he told the BBC.
“I remember him occasionally leaning across to me to quietly inquire with a twinkle in his eye why a particular General officer was improperly dressed, as he described, as a subaltern officer. It reminded one he espoused certain standards.”
