Biden is right
WITHDRAWING the 750 remaining UK troops from Afghanistan is a welcome move, triggered by US President Joe Biden pulling out America’s military.
After 464 British deaths, many more lifechanging injuries and billions spent over 20 years, the Government in Kabul must do a deal with the Taliban or fight the war on its own.
General Sir Nick Carter is disappointed in the decision but he may have overlooked the fact that an endless military entanglement is not in the interests of the UK or the US.
The invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq and the bombing of Libya show peace and security are not won solely by armed intervention.
