Boss of used CD company in £30m haul

- BY GRAHAM HISCOTT Head of Business

A FORMER record shop boss who sold music from his garage looks set to net a £30million fortune.

Steve Oliver, 50, co-founded musicMagpie in 2007 to buy and sell secondhand CDs online.

It has grown to become a leading reseller of electronic gadgets and books.

Mr Oliver will be one of the big winners from Thursday’s planned stock market listing in which the business may be valued at just under £210million.

As well as selling £12.2million in shares, he would retain a 9.5% stake, worth nearly £20million.

Mr Oliver said: “I’m a humble bloke from Stockport and it won’t change me at all. I will be looking to share that out with my nearest and dearest.”
