High steaks in Flintstones food contest

- BY ADAM ASPINALL

IT was bone appetite for a competitive eater who scoffed a giant 5lb steak.

Kate Ovens spent five hours grilling a £200 slab of tomahawk Wagyu beef on a barbecue as part of her ‘Flintstones Challenge’.

She used a paintbrush to baste the steak with almost an entire stick of butter before plating it up with a mound of chips.

5ft 5in Kate then went on to demolish the entire 6,000-calorie meal in less than 25 minutes.

The 27-year-old, from Fleet, Hants, said: “I love doing steak challenges.

“I wanted to savour every bite but the meat was so tender and delicious, it didn’t take much longer than 20 minutes.

“The steak was so big, it looked like it could have come from a dinosaur.”
