Fatberg’s like 2 blue whales
A HUGE 200-ton fatberg the size of “two blue whales” has been removed from sewers below a town.
The “unflushable” waste was cleared from 80km of pipes under Southendon-Sea, Essex, after a four-month operation.
Anglian Water said the system was 85% full, with wet wipes, sanitary products and even tools, toys, concrete and kitchen utensils being found.
Fat and grease were also removed in the work being done to prevent flooding.
A spokesman said staff were “astounded by the amount of unflushables”.
