IT’S JUSTIN TIME AFTER BOOTHROYD

- BY MATTHEW DUNN

JUSTIN COCHRANE is the favourite to replace Aidy Boothroyd as boss of the England Under-21 side. Boothroyd (below) held the post for seven years and said: “I am very proud to have been able to work so closely with players who I know will go on to have remarkable international careers and to have experienced some very special moments with them over the years.” An internal appointment would be popular and Cochrane has impressed with his work at England Under-17 level. Gareth Southgate has singled him out for praise, saying, “We have some very good young black coaches coming through our development teams. “Justin Cochrane is somebody who I think, within our group of national coaches, is going to be a top coach.”
