DYCHE PLEA TO BE IN FRONT

- BY IAN MURTAGH

SEAN DYCHE won’t be fearing the worst if

Burnley take a shock lead against Manchester United tomorrow.

The Clarets have developed a nasty habit of going ahead only to lose games while United have become masters of overturning deficits.

A fortnight ago Burnley blew a two-goal lead at Southampton, going on to lose 3-2, while Newcastle beat them last Sunday despite Matej Vydra firing them into a first-half lead.

Dyche, however, will be quite happy if his side find the net early at Old Trafford as he’s confident the surrendering of recent leads won’t prey on his players’ minds.

“A few years ago, we went a whole season when we didn’t win after going a goal down but once we got over that, we won quite a few,” he said. “So it shouldn’t really affect them.

“Teams should always be programmed to get the first goal. In the Premier League, things can turn around quickly and go against you but equally, you can turn it round yourselves and we have done that many times ourselves.”

A first defeat at Old Trafford in five years could see Burnley sucked back into the mire but Dyche isn’t panicking.

He added: “We’ve lost our last two games due to lapses, not because we’ve played badly.”
