THOM HAILS TOP TONEY

- BY IAN WINROW

THOMAS FRANK has backed Ivan Toney to take his goal tally to 30 today – and fire up Brentford’s final push for promotion.

In-demand striker Toney (above) struck his 29th league goal in the Bees’s 5-0 thrashing of Preston last time out that ended a run of four straight draws.

Bees boss Frank said: “Hopefully he can hit the 30-goal mark, which will be beautiful. It will be one of the next games, because one thing is for sure – he scores goals.

“Throughout the season there have been a lot of rumours but I have never once asked Ivan about it because it doesn’t bother me. He is a Brentford player.”

Brentford are nine points adrift of secondplaced Watford but with a game in hand, and Frank added: “At this moment in time we are in the play-offs, so we have at least eight games, hopefully nine, to go. The only thing we can look at is the Millwall game and then we will, of course, check the results after.”
