Need payback for Tory greed
BRITISH political life is as murky as the water of my local outdoor swimming pool. Cronyism has gone into overdrive under the guise of coronavirus.
I bet Matt Hancock’s old pub landlord is raising a glass or two after the lucrative PPE contract he was awarded out of the blue.
We’re now less a democracy and more a chumocracy. Yet nothing is done about it and it remains a cancer in politics.
The vast majority of citizens spend their entire lives budgeting to make ends meet. My mother displayed the following notice in her kitchen after the last war when the going was tough: “Life isn’t a matter of holding good cards but playing a poor hand well.” It should be displayed in the Commons.

This Tory government is unbelievable. It’s obvious that sleaze in the administration is rife but Labour’s efforts to get a debate on the issue was defeated by Tory MPs. These “guardians of public probity” are only interested in feathering their own nests. The £37billion Test and Trace fiasco, paying £1,000 a day for consultants and now Greensill’s connections with Cameron are just some scandals of note. When is Johnson going to get found out? Sooner or later his world will come crashing down –roll on that day.
Keith Bowman Chesterfield, Derbys
There’s only one way to describe this government: it stinks! New revelations of ministers attempting to divert
public funds into the pockets of friends come every week. I’ve never known a government mired in so much sleaze to come through it unscathed.
The Labour Party, of which I’m a member, needs to start being a credible opposition. They should be trumpeting all the Tory wrongs from the rooftops instead of letting the Government propaganda machine march over them.

I can’t believe the people of this country sit idly by while Johnson and his ilk grant billions of public funds to their wealthy friends.
They don’t have any conscience or morals and just think it’s their entitlement. Keir Starmer should be wiping the floor with this bunch of incompetents but lacks passion. He needs to step up and take these people apart.

The last PMQs saw Boris ducking and diving and huffing and
puffing rather than answering Keir Starmer’s questions. The Tory Party has always been good at covering up misdeeds but now taking full advantage of a restricted Parliament due to Covid, they’ve become Teflon Tories and nothing will stick. When is the British public going to come to its senses and remove the despicable lot before they transfer all our money to their wealthy friends?
Eddie Fidler, Oxford
When I was working for the local authority there were strict rules applied to the procurement and tendering process.
If I’d done a fraction of what ministers have done, I would have been sacked. It’s a national scandal the way this Government behaves. Brian Morris

Will ex-Labour stalwart Dennis Skinner now receive a pardon after he was booted out of the House of Commons for calling Cameron Dodgy Dave? It turns out he was right all along.
