Sarcevic: Let’s win promotion AGAIN next term!

- BY TOM HOPKINSON GEORGE THOMASON (BOLTON)

ANTONI SARCEVIC says there is no reason Bolton will not be toasting success again next year after helping his side win promotion back to League One.

The Trotters skipper kickstarted Saturday’s party with the first goal in the rout against Crawley that confirmed third spot, with Dapo Afolayan, Eoin Doyle and Lloyd Isgrove also on target.

Sarcevic said: “One hundred percent there’s no reason we can’t be feeling like this again next year.

“The start of this year wasn’t good enough, we all know that, and we will be ready to attack League One next year, there’s no reason why we can’t go again.

“It’s exciting, it’s a big league, and our fans and our club will be right up there as one of the biggest in the league and we need to prove that.

“From January and the recruitment we made, we knew this league was still there for the taking.

“There was a massive belief in our changing room, the gaffer instilled that in us, and we took that out on the pitch. I’m just made up we could get it done and get it over the line.”

Bolton had to wait a week for promotion to be confirmed (players and fans celebrate, below) after letting slip a lead against Exeter last week.

And Sarcevic (above right) added:

“We didn’t want that feeling ever again.

“I said to the lads that I’m a massive believer that it was meant to be.

“Last week we weren’t meant to win, we were meant to take it out on Crawley, and I just hope everyone in Bolton enjoyed it as much as we did.

“I said from day one that I signed for this club to be part of a promotion and a part of getting Bolton back up the leagues.

“And I can’t even tell you how happy I am that I and the boys have managed to get the club enjoying this one.

“It’s only little, though – we want to go again next year.”

Bolton keeper Matt Gilks said: “We had a good January window, a few people came in and made a difference, and we turned a few games around.

“The quality we have in the squad did show through, but it takes hard work and dedication, and we have shown that for the remainder of the season.”

Striker Davide Rodari scored a consolation for Crawley – his first in a Reds’ shirt. But Town had skipper George Francomb sent off just after the half-hour. CRAWLEY: Morris 5, Davies 5 (Sesay 60, 6), McNerney 6 (Rodari 46, 6), Craig 5, Tunnicliffe 5, Tsaroulla 5, Hessenthaler 5, Francomb 4, Powell 5, Nadesan 5 (Frost 81), J Wright 5 BOLTON: Gilks 6, Jones 7, Almeida Santos 7, Baptiste 7, John 7, Williams 7, Thomason 8, Isgrove 8 (Gnahouha 79, 5), Sarcevic 8 (Delfouneso 72, 5), Afolayan 7 (Elbouzedi 75, 5), Doyle 7 (Miller 79)
