EVERY morning for the last 100 days, Gary McKee has got up, eaten his breakfast, brushed his teeth and run a marathon.

The dad reached a century of 26.2-mile runs yesterday in 3hrs 45mins excluding breaks but still has 10 to go to hit his target of 110 marathons in 110 days.

Gary, 51, has raised over £400,000 from past endurance events, and the total for his current effort already stands at over £86,000.

Gary rarely gets injured and many days he often goes in to work as a team leader at Sellafield power plant in Cumbria after his runs.

He said: “I’ve never felt that I’ve bitten off more than

I can chew, and I always go back to the reason why I started, which far outweighs any pain or discomfort I feel.”

The fundraiser has cycled across Brazil, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, trekked through New Zealand and run from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

Zoe Ball, Eamonn Holmes and Mo Farah are among celebrities to back his endeavours and he appeared on Good Morning Britain with Piers Morgan. Last night a convoy of trucks drove through his hometown of Cleator Moor, Cumbria, where a local brewery has named a Marathon Man beer after him. It is not the first time Gary has run 100 marathons in 100 days. He managed the feat four years ago to mark 20 years after his dad Victor was diagnosed with cancer. Gary said: “It turned our world upside down. He was the cornerstone of our family. He was a cancer survivor and lived for another six years.” This time Gary is going even further – and so is his family. His children Alfie, 16, Beau, 13 and Minnie, eight, are also fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support and Hospice at Home West Cumbria. Alfie is cycling 26.2 miles for 110 days, Beau – who raised £35,000 by running for 501 consecutive days – is also taking part, and Minnie does rides on a static bike or runs on a treadmill. Gary said: “It’s a family thing now and my wife Susan is the biggest unsung hero in it all, she supports everyone.”
