PRINCE Harry has revealed he first wanted to quit his royal duties in his early twenties.

He recalled: “I was thinking, I don’t want this job, I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to be doing this.

“Look what it did to my mum, how am I ever going to settle down and have a wife and family when I know it’s going to happen again?”

The Duke of Sussex , whose mother Diana died in a car crash when he was 12 years old, also described being a royal as “a mix between The Truman Show and living in a zoo”.

The 1998 film stars Jim Carrey as a man whose life is a secretly filmed TV drama.

Referring to the Royal Family, Harry told US mental health podcast Armchair Expert: “I’ve seen the business model... how this whole thing works and I don’t want to be part of this.”

With a slight American twang to his voice, the Duke, 36, told host Dax Shepard he started going to therapy after wife Meghan, now pregnant with their second child, “saw he was angry”. Shepard asked if Harry did “mundane things” such as supermarket shopping.

The Duke replied: “The first time Meghan and I met up for her to come and stay with me, we met up in a supermarket in London, pretending we didn’t know each other.”

He did not reveal which shop they met in but Meghan was seen leaving a Whole

Foods store near Kensington Palace in November 2016. The couple now live in an £11 million mansion in California, from where they pursue their work with their newly formed Archewell Foundation.
