TWO months after forcing him to quit Good Morning Britain, ITV is welcoming back Piers Morgan, who will interview Labour leader Keir Starmer for his Life Stories show.

ITV boss Kevin Lygo still rates 56-year-old Morgan, despite the fallout from his comments about the Duchess of Sussex after she and Prince Harry were interviewed by Oprah Winfrey.

Ofcom got more than 41,000 complaints when Morgan said he “didn’t believe a word” Meghan said about her mental health. He was forced to quit GMB in March when he refused to apologise.

He has been less controversial on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, where guests have included Sir Roger Moore, Simon Cowell, Joan Collins and Sir Elton John, and he will interview Sir Keir next month.

Announcing the interview, Morgan said: “It’s very unusual for party political

CHAT leaders to submit themselves to such lengthy personal interviews. I am delighted that Sir Keir has agreed to talk to me about his fascinating life.”

Sir Keir will reflect on his childhood growing up in Surrey as the second of four children, talk about his career in law, which earned him a knighthood, and his move into politics, culminating in becoming Labour leader in April 2020.

He will also talk about leading his party from his spare room in the past year due to lockdowns. Head of Entertainment at ITV, Katie Rawcliffe, said: “Piers Morgan’s Life Stories offers a detailed, personal look at some of the most famous characters around the globe.

“Piers is fantastic at getting people to open up about their lives, loves and losses. Sir Keir Starmer promises to be a real treat.”
