Burke speedster set to spark some celebrations

-

THERE’S no argument – it should pay to Bicker over today’s racing at Newmarket.

BICKERSTAFFE (3.15) came from an unpromising position in the rear when making a winning return at Pontefract last month.

That was no mean feat especially as runner-up Popmaster was race-fit and went on to go close at Doncaster on his next start.

The ground would also have been on the fast side for Bickerstaffe and that opinion was backed up when third behind smart sprint prospect Creative Force over today’s course and distance.

This race should set up nicely for him and the forecast rain would help Karl Burke’s (right) speedster.

Have 2pts each-way at 10-1 with bet365.

ARIGATO (3.50) is better on Newmarket’s Rowley Mile than anywhere else.

He has won here three times from five starts over today’s 7f distance and the handicapper has given him a chance as he’s now just a pound higher than when he was successful over this track and trip last summer.

He ran well when runner-up at Yarmouth first time out last season and, with trainer William Jarvis going well, he should be ready to show his best on his seasonal return this year.

Have 1pt each-way at 12-1. At Newbury, Palace Pier will rightly be a red-hot favourite for the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes but, although

I was tempted to chance My Oberon, there are better bets elsewhere on the card.

The BetVictor London Gold Cup has thrown up smart horses in the past and OZ LEGEND (3.00) could be another.

He won nicely at Newcastle in December and he looked like he would be sharper for the run when a close third behind a couple of good prospects at Windsor.

The softer ground will help and he could well have been let in lightly.

Have 1pt each-way at 10-1.
