Over 10k lose out on breast cancer care
AROUND 10,000 fewer breast cancer patients have started treatment in England over the past year.
Cancer Research UK said a huge effort is still needed to clear the backlog caused by the pandemic to help avoid preventable deaths.
It estimates 38,000 fewer people started care for all cancers including 10,600 breast cancer patients.
CRUK said breast cancer deaths reached an all-time low before the pandemic, but it raised concerns this progress could slow.
The NHS said more than 200,000 people were referred for cancer checks in April following a record high the month before.
