Hols insurance probably won’t cover full Covid
BY RUKI SAYID Consumer Editor BRITS planning a holiday abroad are being warned less than one in 100 travel insurance policies have full cover for Covid disruption.
Analysis of 263 policies found just two offered full protection against cancellation, testing positive and being forced to selfisolate along with medical costs and repatriation.
They were HSBC
Select and Cover and Barclays Travel Pack – but were only available to their customers.
A further 85 were given a “superior” ranking but did not cover cancellation because of a change in official travel advice.
Consumer champion Which? carried out the study and said terms such as “Covid cover”may give people a false sense of security.
It wants documents to be clearly worded so travellers will know what cover they receive.
Couples shouldn’t shoulder full cost of cancelling
