Shameless dad who can’t keep his mouth shut
THOMAS MARKLE tends not to do self-awareness.
If he did, he’d realise just how ridiculous he sounds accusing Oprah Winfrey of taking advantage of his daughter Meghan in that iconic interview in March.
He’d also see how shameless he comes across when he complains about not being able to see his grandchildren. It certainly does take some brass neck to pine for Lilibet and Archie when he’s criticised their parents as often as he has.
In some ways there are no winners in this sad story.
Relationships have been severed and, by the looks of things, may never be healed in 76-year-old Thomas’ lifetime. The trouble is, he remains a walking, talking, living, breathing, constant reminder that you really can’t choose your family.
In the latest in a string of TV confessionals – this time for Australia’s 60 Minutes – Thomas has accused talk show host Oprah of taking advantage of a “weakened” Harry in order to build her network. That would be the billionaire Oprah whose Harpo Productions remains testament to her superstar status and her work over 30 years to become a major player in the industry.
In fact, if anyone has taken advantage of the Sussexes it is Thomas, the man who let slip in that interview that he has even begged Oprah to interview him!
He seems to have forgotten last year’s 90-minute documentary, Thomas Markle: My Story, for which he sold pictures and videos, never seen before, of daughter Meghan as a child. Also pictures of Meghan with her mother, Doria Ragland.
Doria continues to keep a dignified silence. Thomas has washed the Markle dirty linen in public on breakfast TV so many times he should be sponsored by Persil.
While Prince Harry has been hammered for speaking publicly to preserve his mental health, however, Thomas has routinely been given a platform to denigrate his daughter and her husband for money.

What Thomas will never be able to do, however, is make amends if he can’t keep his mouth shut.
